Details Introduction
Chromium metal is mainly used in the production of nickel-based and cobalt-based high-temperature alloys, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, resistance alloys, corrosion-resistant alloys, iron-based heat-resistant alloys and stainless steels. There are two kinds of metallic chromium produced in industry, one is aluminothermic chromium, block, silver bright color, metallic luster, containing Cr>98%, and has different requirements for impurities according to the application. The other is electrolytic chromium, flake, dark brown surface, bright surface after hydrogen refining, containing Cr>99%.
Use:
Chromium is a brittle metal can not be used as a metal material alone, but with iron, nickel, cobalt, titanium, aluminum, copper and other alloys, it becomes a heat resistance, heat strength, wear resistance and special properties of engineering materials. Chromium metal is used as an alloying agent in the production of various nickel-or cobalt-based high-temperature alloys, titanium alloys, aluminum-based alloys, resistance alloys, and copper alloys. It is partly used to produce stainless steel and heat-resistant steel. These materials are widely used in aviation, aerospace, nuclear reactor, automobile, shipbuilding, chemical industry, military industry and other industries.
Production methods: electrolytic method, aluminum silicon thermal method, and vacuum carbon reduction method. The production of chromium metal in China is mainly based on aluminothermic method, and a small amount of electrolytic method is used.
